Michael Wang wins 2nd Annual Seattle City Championships

After an exciting Open Singles final in which he defeated 2nd Place Winner Jay Kim, Michael Wang walked off the court as Seattle City Champion for 2009.  In the Club Doubles final on Sunday, second seeded team Pam Jeffcoat and Tom Veatch, narrowly defeated top seeds Andy Aprikyan and Larry Chinn, needing all seven games to eke out the win, including 3 games by deuce and the final game tied at 8.  Trophies handed out this year were a novelty item made by club member and inventor by Thom Owen, a combination trophy, net-height measurer, ball holder, and rubber cleaner; you’ll have to see it to believe it!
