2010 Bellevue Spring Open

The 2010 Bellevue Spring Open will be taking place the weekend of April 3/4 at Crossroads Community Center in Bellevue, WA. Green Lake will be open as usual that weekend, however we encourage anyone interested in playing in a USATT sanctioned tournament to register.  Information is available at

Note, Wednesday play at Green Lake Community Center will be starting again on March 31, so come take advantage of a chance to practice the week prior to the tournament.

3nd Seattle City Championships – Date TBD

We had started planning our “Seattle City Championships for the weekend of March 27, however the Bellevue Table Tennis Club has moved their tournament to the following weekend. Please check back, or sign up for our email list to be notified of the new date.

Wednesday play off till March 2010

Wednesday evening table tennis at the Green Lake Community Center has ended for the year and will start up again in March. We are continuing to play at our regular times on Saturdays and Sundays.

GLTTC to compete against U Washington

Andy Aprikyan, coach of the University of Washington Table Tennis team, has invited 10 Green Lake TTC players to compete at a team match coming up soon. Not until after the Nationals this week, though. Talk to Tom Veatch to join the event!

Michael Wang wins 2nd Annual Seattle City Championships

After an exciting Open Singles final in which he defeated 2nd Place Winner Jay Kim, Michael Wang walked off the court as Seattle City Champion for 2009.  In the Club Doubles final on Sunday, second seeded team Pam Jeffcoat and Tom Veatch, narrowly defeated top seeds Andy Aprikyan and Larry Chinn, needing all seven games to eke out the win, including 3 games by deuce and the final game tied at 8.  Trophies handed out this year were a novelty item made by club member and inventor by Thom Owen, a combination trophy, net-height measurer, ball holder, and rubber cleaner; you’ll have to see it to believe it!

New tables

There has been a major transformation at the GLTTC. The Green Lake Advisory Council has purchased 5 new Killerspin tables and ball barriers for us. We now have 16 tables, plenty of space and great lighting.
